When was the last time you put on your creative cap and got stuck into an artsy project? Putting your energy into something creative is a great way to let your hair down in the summer, and you will feel great at the end of it, having achieved something you are proud of. Moreover, you will also have the opportunity to show off your creative side to all your friends and family.

When it comes to getting stuck into a creative art project, the opportunities really are endless; you don’t have to simply sit and do a landscape drawing. Why not try something you haven’t done for years, or something you know you would like to achieve? For example, upholster a chair in a different material, have a go at making a new dress, do a colourful painting, paint a wall a vibrant colour, do some face painting, or if you’re feeling really adventurous, give some woodwork a go and make a skateboard.

  • Cook something adventurous

Eating is one of the most usual ways to ease stress, but instead of binging on popcorn in front of a box set, why not turn this urge into something more positive by cooking something adventurous. Not only will you have the chance to try something you may not have done before, but you may find yourself getting inspired and may even end up with a new meal to go on your weekly shopping list.

You could try cooking something you have never heard of before, mixing different combinations of foods and flavours, or you could try cooking a popular dish from another country. Make a few different dishes in small portions and then invite a few friends round to get their verdict on your creations!

  • Make a performance

Make a performance

If you get a kick out of getting up in front of a crowd, performing can be a great way to blow off some steam. Not only will this give you a little rush when everyone claps, but you will also feel a confidence boost after you’ve faced your fears on stage. It’s not as daunting as it sounds, either. Once you’re on stage, whether you’re bad or good, as long as you put your all into it but don’t take yourself too seriously, you’ll find that you receive a lot of support from most audiences.

Head out to your local karaoke bar and belt out a few classics to get the crowd singing along. Alternatively, if you’ve got talent to show, find a pub who are hosting an open mic night and play an instrument or sing. If you’re feeling really confident, you could even do some stand-up comedy with a few of your favourite jokes.

  • Do something childish

Sometimes we all just need to take a time trip back to our childhood days to really blow off some steam. Why not let your hair down and give in to your longing for those youthful activities? We’re sure you can entice some friends, or even better a child relative to join in with your fun.

Head down to the local park and get yourself on those swings, roundabouts and climbing frames. If this isn’t even enough to quench your cravings for childish fun, roll down a hill, kick around a ball, take a ride in a trolley or run into the sea! We’re sure you’ll feel better once you’ve reverted back to your boisterous, merry days running around in the sun.

  • Do some exercise

Do some exercise

You might not want to hear it, but exercise is a great way to increase your energy and blow off some steam this summer. Not only is it good for your health, but exercise also releases feel-good hormones in your brain called endorphins which will lift your mood, so the ‘runner’s high’ really does exist!

If you don’t feel like heading to the gym any time soon, find a way to exercise outside. Head to a park for a game of basketball, do some hula hooping or skipping in the garden, or simply just head out to a country park for a walk and some exploring in the woods.

  • Get an adrenaline rush

For some, nothing is ever enough in terms of blowing off steam until they experience the adrenaline rush they live for, and there are plenty of ways to achieve this. Extreme sports such as water skiing, quad biking or mountain biking are all great experiences, but you could easily come up with your own way of achieving that rush for less money. Arrange a last minute date, go streaking down your road, or run into a cold sea or lake.

Not only will this be a great way to blow off some steam, but you’re also likely to create amazing memories and picture opportunities by engaging in adrenaline rush inspiring activities.
