Tips To find Your Solicitor

Tips To find Your Solicitor

When you find yourself in a position that means you require the help of legal professionals, it can often be difficult to know where to start your search for a trusted solicitor.

If you don’t already have a solicitor, or wish to move away from your current solicitor for whatever reason, there are a wide variety of online tools that can help you find the right legal representative for your case.

The Law Society is the representative body for solicitors in England and Wales, and has a comprehensive database of approved solicitors. The search tools on the Law Society’s website allow you to search for legal representatives by location, or using the “pro search” tool to gather narrow your search down further.

Narrowing Down Your Search

Once you have gathered a list of potential solicitors to help you with your case, you can start getting in touch with them to discuss the type of help you would like from them.

Many solicitors will invite you to an initial consultation, which will sometimes be free, and sometimes incur a fee. However, a face to face meeting will give you the opportunity to go over your case and gather more information on how that particular solicitor will go about handling your case.

To narrow your search down further, you may want to search for solicitors that hold a particular accreditation.

Depending on the nature of your case, the accreditation you search for will vary, for example, those looking to contest a Will may want to search for those that are a member of The Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).
